Despite setting a new lap record in race one, HANNspree Ten Kate Honda CBR1000RR rider Carlos Checa ended the Magny-Cours weekend with a seventh- and a fourth-place finish in the penultimate 2008 World Superbike championship event. Checa now runs fifth in the season’s championship standings.

The AMA SuperSport Shootout at the Daytona International Speedway was won by a slim margin. This race marks the final event of the 2009 AMA Pro Road Racing series.

After making its debut at the 2009 Isle of Man TTs, the TTXGP electric race will run next year in the US as well, with the TTXGP U.S. Championships held at Infineon May 14-16.

American and long-time Honda rider Josh Hayes had a brilliant showing in Portugal at the last World Supersport race of the season this weekend. While Hayes spent most of 2008 riding a pair of Honda CBR600RRs for Erion Racing in the AMA’s 600 Supersport and Formula Xtreme series, as the AMA season wound down he’s been looking for new challenges in the World Supersport arena.
